Oklahoma State transfer Amari Whiting has signed with the University of Iowa women’s basketball program, Head Coach Jan Jensen announced on April 16.

Whiting will join the Hawkeyes as a senior with one season of eligibility remaining. She is the second player to sign with Iowa through the transfer portal for next season, alongside junior guard Dani Carnegie.

Whiting played in all 34 games for Oklahoma State last season, averaging 29.1 minutes, 9.6 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game. Previously at Brigham Young University (BYU), she averaged double-digit points in both her sophomore and freshman years and maintained at least 1.5 steals per game throughout her college career.

Jensen said, “We are so excited to add Amari to our program. She is a great young woman first and foremost. Amari has a great basketball IQ, and she is not only a great defender, but she loves defense. Amari is going to be a fantastic fit for her final season at Iowa.”

The addition of Whiting brings experience and versatility to the Hawkeyes’ roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.
