Alan Eugene Beier, 61, of Fort Dodge, Iowa, has been sentenced to 42 months in federal prison for possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentencing took place on August 19, 2025, in Sioux City before United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand.
According to evidence presented at the plea and sentencing hearings, on September 14, 2024, a Clear Lake Police Department officer responded to a driving complaint involving a dark-colored motorcycle with a dim headlight and no taillights. After conducting a traffic stop, the officer arrested Beier for driving infractions. A search of Beier and his motorcycle led law enforcement to recover $864 in cash, 10 grams of cocaine, 82 grams of marijuana, and 235 grams of methamphetamine.
Beier admitted that he had purchased the drugs for $2,600 in Minnesota prior to being stopped and intended to sell the methamphetamine in Northern Iowa.
Beier was also sentenced to three years of supervised release following his imprisonment. There is no parole in the federal system. He remains in custody of the United States Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
