An Iowa City man, Nong Chatchanok Press, was sentenced on March 17 to 110 months in federal prison for receiving child pornography.

The sentencing follows an investigation that began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children received a CyberTip about accounts linked to Press. Authorities determined that these accounts had received and uploaded files containing child sexual abuse material. Law enforcement executed a search of Press’s residence in December 2023, seizing electronic devices. In February 2025, officers also seized a phone from Press at the time of his arrest.

A forensic review of the devices revealed that Press used them to receive, view, and possess more than 117,000 images and 300 videos depicting child sexual abuse material. After serving his prison sentence, Press will be subject to a supervised release period of fifteen years. He was also ordered to pay $123,000 in restitution. There is no parole in the federal system.

United States Attorney David C. Waterman of the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentencing. The University of Iowa Police Department conducted the investigation.

This case is part of Project Safe Childhood, an initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse nationwide. The program brings together federal, state, and local resources to locate and prosecute individuals who exploit children online and to identify victims.
