The University of Iowa track and field team won six event titles on May 2 at the Musco Twilight in Coralville and the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson.
The victories highlight strong performances by both men’s and women’s teams, with several athletes achieving personal bests or moving up in school history rankings. These results come as the Hawkeyes prepare for upcoming championship meets.
At Francis X. Cretzmeyer Track, Isabel Evans claimed first place in the women’s 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.22 seconds, while Rowan Boulter won the women’s 3,000 meters in a personal-best time of 10:07.11. In field events, Bryce Ruland secured the men’s discus title with a lifetime-best throw of 58.02 meters, improving his eighth-place mark all-time at Iowa. Wisdom Williams won the women’s shot put with a distance of 15.37 meters.
Freshman Landon Prince made his debut in discus with a fourth-place finish at 50.35 meters, while Duke Faley finished sixth at 49.98 meters. Ruland also achieved third place in men’s shot put with another personal best (18.03 meters). Freshmen Owen Wolfe (1:51.27) and Spencer Alf (1:51.84) recorded lifetime bests to finish third and fourth respectively in the men’s 800 meters.
At the Desert Heat Classic, David Akhalu ran a lifetime best of 45.05 seconds to win the men’s 400-meter title and moved to fourth on Iowa’s all-time list; he was part of the winning men’s 4×400 relay team that posted Iowa’s third-fastest time ever (3:01.64). The women’s relay squad finished second overall with Iowa’s ninth-quickest mark ever.

Other notable performances included Kalen Walker finishing second (10.19) and Darwin Jimenez fourth (10.23) in men’s100-meters.Princess Uche placed secondin women’s400-meters(52 .10),moving to seventh all-time for Iowa.Tyrese Miller set apersonal record(45 .88),remaining tenth onIowa ‘sall-timelist.Landon Fontenotand Austin Rowswellalso ranpersonalbestsin themen’s400meters .
