A Kalona man, Alexander Warren Dehogues, was sentenced on April 7 to 25 years in federal prison for sexual exploitation and attempted sexual exploitation of a child.
According to public court documents and evidence presented at sentencing, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office received information in May 2025 that Dehogues, age 35, had secretly recorded two minor children while they were undressed. These recordings were saved on his electronic devices. A forensic examination of the seized devices from Dehogues’s residence revealed he used them to record, receive, and possess images and videos containing child sexual abuse material.
After serving his prison sentence, Dehogues will be required to complete an eight-year term of supervised release. There is no parole available in the federal system.
United States Attorney David C. Waterman of the Southern District of Iowa announced the sentencing. The case was investigated by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
This prosecution is part of Project Safe Childhood, a national initiative launched by the Department of Justice in May 2006 aimed at combating child sexual exploitation and abuse. Project Safe Childhood brings together resources from federal, state, and local agencies to locate offenders who exploit children online and identify victims.
