Landus Cooperative announced on April 27 that it has awarded its Excellence in Agriculture Scholarship to five Iowa high school seniors who will pursue degrees in agriculture or life sciences this fall.
The scholarship program provides $2,000 to each recipient and is part of Landus Cooperative’s effort to support rural communities and invest in the future of agriculture. Students were chosen based on academic achievements, leadership skills, and dedication to their local communities.
“Each of the students selected have demonstrated a deep commitment to building on the strong agricultural roots of our state,” said Sarah Heineman, Director of Community Engagement at Landus Cooperative. “We’re proud to support them as they begin their academic journey and look forward to seeing their impact on our industry in the years to come.”
The recipients are Lane Elmquist from Audubon High School, Brody Weber from Audubon High School, Lauren Comes from Atlantic High School, Levi Behn from Boone High School, and Benton Rowe from Dallas Center-Grimes High School. Their fields of study include agricultural business, animal science, agronomy, and biology at institutions such as Iowa State University and Des Moines Area Community College.
Eligibility for the scholarship requires a minimum GPA of 2.5, plans for a degree in agriculture or life sciences, and that applicants or their guardians are voting members of Landus Cooperative in good standing.
