The Linn County Secondary Road Department and S2 Construction began removing trees and brush along county roads in the public right-of-way on May 6. The work is intended to improve safety for drivers, enhance visibility around curves and intersections, support better drainage, and help road crews maintain the roads more effectively. According to the county, trees covered under existing tree agreements will not be removed.
The project is taking place in District 3, which includes Boulder, Brown, Buffalo, Maine, and Marion townships. A map of Linn County’s road districts is available for those seeking more information about specific locations.
Drivers are advised to watch for “Road Work Ahead” signs as well as crews working with equipment in ditches. There may be occasional lane impacts during the process; however, all roads will remain open throughout the duration of the project.
Property owners are reminded that any vegetation planted within the public right-of-way may be subject to removal. The county recommends placing new plantings well within private property boundaries to avoid future issues.
This initiative highlights ongoing efforts by local authorities to keep transportation routes safe and accessible while minimizing disruptions for residents.
