The Linn County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on April 22 at 10 a.m. to consider the adoption of the proposed fiscal year 2027 budget at the Linn County Public Service Center, located at 935 2nd St. SW, Cedar Rapids.

The upcoming hearing provides an opportunity for any resident or taxpayer to present objections or arguments in favor of the FY27 proposed budget. This step is part of Linn County’s ongoing efforts to involve community members in local government decision-making processes.

This will be the second public hearing related to the FY27 budget held by Linn County in recent weeks. The first focused on the county’s proposed tax levy, which includes a planned decrease of one penny for Linn County’s portion of the tax rate. Residents are encouraged to view meeting agendas and access minutes and videos from Board of Supervisors meetings through Linn County’s website.

As part of its annual budget planning process, Linn County holds more than 20 public meetings each year where community input is welcomed. The fall budget forum is highlighted as a key opportunity for residents to influence spending priorities early in the process, with staff providing information about how budgets are developed and collecting feedback on desired programs and services.

Linn County’s fiscal year runs from July 1 through June 30 each year.
