The Mitchell County Board of Supervisors will hold a public hearing on May 5 regarding a proposed amendment to the county’s zoning ordinance and zoning map. The application seeks to change the designation of several parcels from Agriculture District to Arterial Commercial District, according to an April 20 notice.

This matter is significant as it could affect land use and development patterns in Mitchell County. Changes in zoning can influence future commercial activity, property values, and community planning.

The parcels under consideration are identified as 10-22-300-012, 10-22-300-014, 10-22-300-015, 10-22-300-027, and 10-22-300-029. The application was previously reviewed by the Zoning Commission of Mitchell County on April 9.

The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 5 at 8:45 a.m. in the Board of Supervisors Chambers at the Mitchell County Courthouse in Osage. Community members are invited to attend or direct questions to the Mitchell County Planning and Zoning Department via email at abaer@mitchellcountyiowa.gov or by calling (641) 832‑3943.

Final decisions about changes to local zoning can have lasting impacts on economic growth and land management in the area.
