The Iowa Department of Transportation announced on April 9 that the northbound Interstate 35 entrance ramp at NE 36th Street (Exit 94) in Ankeny will be closed starting at 8 p.m. Monday, April 13, weather permitting. The closure is expected to last until late November when northbound I-35 traffic is switched back onto new pavement.

During the closure, drivers will need to follow a marked detour route around the work zone. The detour uses southbound I-35, the East 1st Street interchange for turning around, and then the East 1st Street ramp (Exit 92) to access northbound I-35.

The Iowa Department of Transportation advises motorists to check current detour route information before traveling through this construction zone by visiting 511ia.org. Drivers are also reminded to pay attention to detour signs and message boards while driving.

Motorists are urged by the department to drive with caution, obey posted speed limits and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. Drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.

Additional traveler information is available through the Iowa DOT’s 511 system online or via phone. More details about this closure can be found in the organization’s press release.
