Rep. Zach Nunn held a roundtable discussion on April 25 with approximately 50 leaders from Iowa’s business, agriculture, military, and civic communities to address issues related to the Farm Bill, trade agreements, and national security.
The event focused on supporting Iowa’s farmers and small businesses as they compete globally. The discussion highlighted efforts to advance a strong Farm Bill, secure new trade agreements, and strengthen supply chains for producers in the state. “Iowa’s farmers and small businesses compete on a global stage every single day. Today’s conversation focused on making sure they have the tools to win and that their priorities are front and center in the policies I’m fighting for in Washington,” said Rep. Nunn. “That means advancing a strong Farm Bill, securing new trade agreements, and strengthening the supply chains and markets Iowa producers and Main Street businesses rely on.”
The roundtable followed Rep. Nunn’s recent congressional delegation trip to Taiwan aimed at expanding market access for Iowa agriculture under the U.S.-Taiwan Reciprocal Trade Agreement. According to Rep. Nunn’s office, more than $225 million in agricultural goods were exported from Iowa to Taiwan last year; once ratified by Taiwan’s legislature, the agreement would eliminate tariffs of up to 26% on products such as beef, dairy, and corn.
