Clinton Area Chamber Of Commerce issued the following announcement on Sept.26
Derek Campbell joins CCC after having taught at Wiregrass Georgia Technical College in Valdosta, Georgia. He is an Illinois native, and graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale and earned his master’s degree at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau.
Derek loves literature, and wrote his thesis on Watchmen, the graphic novel. Enthusiastic about all types of literature, he spoke on a local comic-con panel about censorship in the graphic medium. Derek brings to CCC experience teaching at nearly every education level, from pre-school through undergrad level while in college. You can find Derek teaching Literature at Clinton Community College.
Tim Cottle returns to CCC after a period of working at the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges district level. In his role with workforce training, Tim will reach out to area businesses to assess training and retraining needs. He will then implement those needs, arranging for trainers in the appropriate area.
A Clemson University graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in education/history and Master’s in Human Resource Development, Tim brings to CCC an education background in high school and college teaching/programming/administration, business background in finance, operations, talent acquisition, and talent development. Tim can be contacted at the CCC Technology Center in Clinton.
Gabe Knight is the Interim Dean of Instruction at Clinton Community College. Gabe began his career with EICC as a faculty member at Scott Community College in 2008, and as the Department Coordinator for the AAS Accounting and Business Management Program and the AA Business offerings. During his time with SCC, he was very active on a number of committees for both SCC and our district.
Knight graduated from St. Ambrose University with Bachelor’s degree and MBA. He has taught traditional face-to-face classes, online, blended online and hybrid classes. He was named one of EICC’s Distinguished Faulty member in 2017, Instructor of the Year for ICCOC in 2013, and was recognized with the Paragon Leadership award for Phi Theta Kappa. Gabe also served as Faculty mentor for students interested in starting their own business and had numerous students complete the “Business Plan on Steroids” Honors Project. He participated in the L.E.A.D Institute at EICC as both a participant and a mentor, and served as a new Faculty mentor through the New Faculty Development Course, was a Faculty Board member on the Scott Community College Foundation Board and was an Executive Board Member of the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges Higher Education Association and served on the Interest Based Bargaining negotiations team.
Katrina Larson is a Clinton, Iowa native, having graduated from Clinton High School and Clinton Community College with an Associates of Science degree. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Ashford University in Business/Administration Management.
Katrina brings a wealth of experience in working with the public. She has experience as front line staff and customer service working in hospital admissions, greeting customers, directing phone calls, and retail sales. Her responsibilities are the Information Desk and the Test Center.
Jill O’Neill is the CCC Librarian. She received her BA in English Language and Literature through Aurora University in 2008 and her Masters in Library and Information Science from the University of Iowa in 2018. Jill was the Public Services Librarian at Clinton Public Library and has served as the Interim Library Director since October 2018.
Jill is an active community member, serving on the Board of Directors for Clinton Reads and the Clinton Convention and Visitors Bureau. She also serves as the Rotary Club of Clinton Secretary and is on the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce Events Committee and the Chamber Ambassadors.
Shari Ruehling is joining us as the new Military and Veteran Student Affairs Facilitator for EICC. She was previously working as a PACE Career Navigator/Academic Advisor at Scott Community College.
Shari was born and raised in Clinton, Iowa. After receiving her Bachelor’s in Psychology from Iowa State University she traveled the world with her husband who retired from the Army after 20 years of service. They have been stationed in the country of Panama and in the states of Missouri, Kentucky, Georgia, North Carolina, and Maryland. During these travels she obtained her Master’s Degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Oklahoma and worked in the U.S. Army’s transition program preparing service members for life after the Army.
Jen Schueller moved to Iowa in 2007 from Northern Wisconsin and has been part of Eastern Iowa Community Colleges since 2008. She worked at the West Davenport branch since the opening 2012.
Schueller completed a Master’s in Business Administration from St. Ambrose University in December of 2018.
In her new role at Clinton Community College, Jen will oversee the Clinton Community College High School Equivalency Program, working with instructors and students as they work to complete their high school diplomas.
CCC President Dr. Karen Vickers commented, “We are very fortunate to have this talented group of people become a part of CCC. Their diverse experiences will strengthen our ability to meet the needs of our students. Each has a wonderful passion for serving our students.”
