The University of Iowa is planning to resume face-to-face classes this fall.
“The university is committed to the safety and well-being of its students, faculty and staff and will implement recommended best practices for limiting exposure to COVID-19 in a campus setting,” the University of Iowa stated on its website.
The university has created six teams to discuss how to reopen the campus, according to a post on UI’s website. Among the issues being discussed are how to social distance with regards to classrooms and areas where individuals congregate such as dining halls and recreation centers, how to safely provide housing to students and how often cleaning needs to take place.
“We are facing this challenge head-on, and we look forward to when our campus is again filled with excitement and energy,” Rod Lehnertz, senior vice president for finance and operations at UI, said in the IU website post.
The university’s website states that summer classes will continue to be held online and all summer events that were supposed to be held on campus will be canceled, postponed or conducted virtually.
