Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed a new proclamation Aug. 21 extending a Public Health Disaster Emergency for another 30 days.
The governor’s web page said the proclamation extends restrictions already in place across the state including a requirement for patrons at restaurants to maintain six feet of space between groups, maintain social distancing and take measures to reduce the risk of infection at gyms, casinos, salons, theaters and other establishments.
In Iowa restaurants, fitness centers, malls, libraries, churches and other activities and businesses are allowed to open limited operations if they observe safety precautions.
The governor said school facilities damaged in high winds that struck the area on Aug. 10 could offer remote (virtual) learning with the approval of the state’s Department of Education.
The proclamation also suspends fees for the replacement of official records lost at governmental offices because of the wind damage and extends relief measures to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.
The proclamation will be in effect until Sept. 20, the report said.
