Des Moines home prices rise in the third quarter of 2020

The median sale price of a home sold in the third quarter of 2020 in Des Moines rose by $12,000 while total sales increased by 14.7%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through September of 2020, there were 1,378 homes sold, with a median sale price of $155,000 - a 8.4% increase over the $143,000 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 1,201 homes sold in Des Moines in the third quarter of 2019.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for the most recent year with available data, 2017, was $2,488, approximately 1.6% of the median home sale price for the third quarter of 2020.
