The second half of 2020: Home prices in Des Moines increased

The median sale price of a home sold in the second half of 2020 in Des Moines rose by $14,500 while total sales increased by 10.3%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From July through December of 2020, there were 2,624 homes sold, with a median sale price of $154,500 - a 10.4% increase over the $140,000 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 2,378 homes sold in Des Moines in the second half of 2019.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for the most recent year with available data, 2017, was $2,488, approximately 1.6% of the median home sale price for the second half of 2020.
