Rising home prices in Des Moines in the fourth quarter of 2020

The median sale price of a home sold in the fourth quarter of 2020 in Des Moines rose by $16,450 while total sales increased by 5%, according to BlockShopper.com.

From October through December of 2020, there were 1,236 homes sold, with a median sale price of $153,950 - a 12% increase over the $137,500 median sale price for the same period of the previous year. There were 1,177 homes sold in Des Moines in the fourth quarter of 2019.

The median sales tax in Des Moines for the most recent year with available data, 2017, was $2,488, approximately 1.6% of the median home sale price for the fourth quarter of 2020.
