Census Bureau: Iowa saw more residents between ages 55 and 64 in 2019

Of the 3,139,508 people residing in Iowa in 2019, the median age was 38, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by the Hawkeye Reporter.

The largest number of people were in the 55 to 64 age bracket with the fewest number of people in the age bracket for people over the age of 84.

Data for this story was compiled from the bureau’s American Community Survey. Information from the survey helps to determine how federal and state funds are distributed.
