Longtime Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley still believes he can make a difference in Washington as he will be running for reelection.
A Twitter user who goes under the moniker BrooklynDad and is known for his liberal viewpoints took to Twitter to question the senator’s move.
“88-year-old Chuck Grassley is running for reelection to remind everyone what a great idea term limits are,” BrooklynDad wrote Sept. 24.
Grassley was first elected as to the Senate in 1980 and is currently 88, CNN reported.
Grassley himself took to Twitter and stated that he is running for the people of the state and not himself.
"It’s 4 a.m. in Iowa so I’m running. I do that 6 days a week. Before I start the day I want you to know what Barbara and I have decided. I’m running for re-election — a lot more to do, for Iowa. We ask and will work for your support. Will you join us?" he wrote in a Sept. 24 post on Twitter.
"With your support, we can take back control of Congress in 2022," he added. “This election is about stopping socialism and saving freedom.”
Grassley is currently the oldest Republican senator as well as the longest-serving Iowa senator, Reuters reported.
Currently, Republicans do not control the Senate.
