Drake University recently issued the following announcement.
Two Drake athletes, Adam Fogg and Isaac Basten, have advanced to the 2021 NCAA Division I Cross Country Championships in Tallahassee, Fla. November 20.
Adam Fogg advanced to the championship following a fourth-place finish at the NCAA Regional Championship in Iowa City, Iowa November 12. Fogg's time of 30:24.45 was a personal-best in the 10k, and he ran with the lead pack for the entirety of the race. Fogg came to the Regional Championship following an individual second-place finish in the MVC Cross Country Championships in Normal, Ill. October 29. The Bulldogs won that MVC Cross Country Championship with 20 points.
Fogg has been stellar since arriving in Des Moines from Brisbane, Australia. He finished fourth in the Mile as 2021 NCAA Indoor Championship and shattered his own Drake record by completing the race in 3:57.32. Fogg also advanced to the 2021 NCAA National Championships in the 1500 meters.
Isaac Basten advanced to the Cross Country Championship following a nineteenth-place finish at the Regional Championship. Basten's bested his previous-lowest 10k time by over two minutes when he crossed the line at 30:52.0. Basten is cresting at the right time. He was the individual champion at the 2021 MVC Cross Country Championship with a time of 24.13.0 in the 8k race.
Basten is no stranger to competing for championships as a Bulldog. The junior from Buffalo, Minn. earned All-America honors when he finished 12th at the 2021 NCAA Championship in Eugene, Ore.
