North Iowa Area Community College recently issued the following announcement.
NIACC sophomore Melvin Kipkemboi placed third at the NJCAA Division II national meet Saturday at Pole Green Park.
Kipkemboi, who was the individual national champion in 2020, covered the 8-kilometer course in a time of 25 minutes, 4 seconds. Cowley County's Adrian Lopez was the individual champion in 24:52 and his teammate was second in 24:55.
NIACC placed 10th in the team standings with 321 points. Cowley College was the team champion with 82 points and Daytona State College was second with 102 points.
Also for NIACC on Saturday, Peyton Seiler was 51st in 27:51, Christian Rodriguez was 78th in 28:23, Richard Marcoux was 99th in 28:55, Bryden Juelsgaard was 103rd in 29:00, Caled Sledd was 146th in 30:04 and Maxwell Deeter was 213th in 34:38.
