355

Iowa Central Community College recently issued the following announcement.

Future Iowa Central students will get the opportunity to experience many of the incredible opportunities offered at Iowa Central this coming Saturday for the annual “Jam the Gym” event.

The official visit day begins at 9 a.m. and continues throughout the day, highlighted by a basketball doubleheader the tips at 1 p.m. between the Tritons and Kirkwood.

High school juniors and seniors will receive a t-shirt and have the chance to win many great prizes. Seniors who attend will also be in the running for a full-tuition scholarship to be awarded.

“‘Jam the Gym’ is a great opportunity for students to come visit on a weekend and get the full collegiate experience,” said Sara Scharf, Director of Enrollment Management at Iowa Central. “Everything from academics, financial aid, tour of campus to experiencing our game day atmosphere by coming to the basketball games. Students and families are invited to the games free of charge.

“Juniors have the opportunity to win prizes such as a TV or Bluetooth speaker and seniors have a chance to win a full-tuition scholarship. It is important that we give students and parents the chance to come on the weekend if they are unable to take time away from school or work and still get the full college visit experience.”

A campus tour, academic breakout sessions and lunch in the Triton Cafe begin the day. Prize drawings and halftime entertainment presented by Iowa Central’s cheer and dance teams will be featured during the basketball games.

One 12-credit hour scholarship will be awarded during halftime of the women’s game and one more during halftime of the men’s contest.
