Holiday Instrumental Concert Set For on November 29

The Iowa Central Instrumental Music Department has been busy preparing to get in the holiday spirit for the upcoming winter concert.

This year’s winter concert will be held in the Bioscience and Health Science Building’s Auditorium while the Performing Arts Department home, Decker Auditorium, undergoes renovations. A holiday reception will be heldin the BHS lobby from 5-6:30 p.m., prior to the 7 p.m. concert on November 29.

The concert will feature Iowa Central’s Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble and Concert band, along with featured soloists Madelyn Miller and Sierra Hallman on saxophone.

The Jazz Band will perform Steve Weist’s “Thaditude,” “Over The Rainbow,” “The Duke,” “Sing Sing Sing,” and “A Charlie Brown Christmas.”

The Percussion Ensemble will feature “Christmastime is Here,” “Echoes of Kohala” and “Low Rider.”

The Concert Band will finish out the evening with “An American Christmas,” “Classical Rondo,” “Simple Gifts,” “Trumpeter’s Lullaby,” “Sandpaper Ballet” and “Blue Bells of Scotland.”

At Iowa Central the professors focus on the success of the students, and with small class sizes it makes interaction with the professors easier. You are not just some random number in a class at Iowa Central. The teachers are always available and can respond to any question you may have in a timely manner.
