On June 2, the access from NW Beaver Drive to Iowa 415 near Saylorville Lake will be closed for construction. This closure is scheduled to last until the end of August 2025, as announced by the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office. The project aims to convert the intersection from a conventional four-way stop to a roundabout, which is expected to handle future traffic growth more efficiently.
The construction includes installing new pavement and drainage systems. During this period, drivers who usually take the Iowa 415 mile-long bridge over Saylorville Lake to reach Polk City will need to follow a marked detour. This route involves NW Beaver Drive, Merle Hay Road, NW 70th Avenue/East 1st Street, Iowa 141, and Iowa 415.
For those traveling on Iowa 415 aiming for NW Beaver Drive, an alternative route will be marked using NW 112th Avenue, Iowa 415, NE 26th Street, NW 66th Avenue, and NW Beaver Drive.
The Iowa DOT advises motorists to exercise caution in work zones by adhering to speed limits and other posted signs. Traffic fines for violations are doubled in these areas. Drivers should remain alert, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
