Iowa 92 between U.S. 218 near Ainsworth and Iowa 70 near Columbus Junction will close on Monday, June 2, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Fairfield construction office. The closure is set to begin at 7 a.m. and is expected to last until mid-October, weather permitting.

The roadwork involves reconstructing drainage structures and the highway from Louisa County Road X-17 to Second Street in Columbus Junction. During this period, drivers will need to follow marked detour routes using Louisa County roads W-66, G-52, and local routes in Columbus City and Columbus Junction.

The Iowa DOT advises motorists to drive cautiously, adhere to posted speed limits and signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. Drivers should remain alert, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
