The Iowa Mississippi River Parkway Commission (MRPC) is scheduled to convene on Monday, July 21, at the Hurstville Interpretative Center in Maquoketa. The meeting will begin with roll call and introductions at 10 a.m., followed by the approval of the June 9, 2025, meeting minutes.
The agenda includes discussions on budget matters such as approving expense reports, printing costs for posters, and mileage for poster delivery. A review of the guidance document and setting priorities and goals for the new year are also planned before lunch at noon.
In the afternoon session starting at 1 p.m., the chair will present a report that includes reviewing documentation for new commissioners and discussing attendees for the September Annual Meeting. National Committee appointments will be elected with reports from various committees including Marketing, Transportation, Environment, Recreation and Agriculture, and Culture and Heritage.
The meeting is expected to adjourn at 4 p.m., with a future meeting schedule discussion preceding it. Following this meeting, the Iowa Mississippi River Parkway Commission Inc., a tax-exempt fundraising organization, will hold its own session at the same location.

The MRPC aims to preserve and promote resources along the Mississippi River while fostering economic growth through initiatives like the Great River Road. The Iowa MRPC specifically focuses on these objectives within Iowa's portions of this national scenic byway. Members are appointed by the governor from counties bordering the river including Allamakee, Clayton, Dubuque, Jackson, Clinton, Scott, Muscatine, Louisa, Des Moines, and Lee counties. Ex officio members come from various state departments including Transportation and Natural Resources.
