A Sioux City woman has been sentenced to more than five years in federal prison for distributing methamphetamine. Alesha Rasmussen, 34, received her sentence on July 18, 2025, following a guilty plea earlier this year.
Rasmussen admitted to selling approximately one ounce of methamphetamine on July 10, 2024, to an individual cooperating with law enforcement in Webster County, Iowa. She had previously been convicted of conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine in November 2011 by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Iowa. After serving time for her previous offense, Rasmussen violated her supervised release conditions four times.
The sentencing was carried out by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand in Sioux City. Rasmussen received a sentence of 63 months in prison and will serve a six-year term of supervised release afterward. The federal system does not allow parole.
Rasmussen is currently held by the United States Marshal's custody awaiting transport to a federal prison.
Assistant United States Attorney Patrick T. Greenwood prosecuted the case, which was investigated by the Iowa Division of Narcotics Enforcement.
