Lane closures are set to begin on the U.S. 18 bridge over the Wapsipinicon River in Chickasaw County starting Monday, July 28. The closures will facilitate a bridge deck overlay project that is expected to last until late October, weather permitting.
The Iowa Department of Transportation (DOT) has announced that one lane of the bridge will remain open during the construction. Traffic will be directed through this lane using temporary signals, and there will be a 15-foot lane restriction.
Motorists are advised by the Iowa DOT to exercise caution, adhere to posted speed limits and signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. Drivers should remain alert, maintain ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
