Nighttime construction work will lead to the closure of westbound Interstate 80 in Polk County, as announced by the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes Construction office. The closure is scheduled from 10 p.m. on Monday, August 25, until 4 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26, weather permitting. If necessary, an additional closure may occur from 10 p.m. on Tuesday, August 26, until 4 a.m. on Wednesday, August 27.
During the closure, traffic will be rerouted via a marked detour using the westbound exit ramp from I-80 to northbound I-35, then northbound I-35 to Corporate Woods Drive, and finally southbound I-35 back to westbound I-80.
The Iowa DOT advises drivers to exercise caution in the work zone by obeying posted speed limits and other signs. It also reminds motorists that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in these areas. Drivers should remain alert, maintain safe distances between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
