Maintenance work on the bridge over Broadway Avenue will lead to the closure of the eastbound I-80 to westbound I-235 ramp in Polk County. The Iowa Department of Transportation’s Des Moines maintenance office announced that this closure is scheduled for Wednesday, August 27, depending on weather conditions.

During the closure, a detour will be in place directing traffic east on I-80 to NE 14th Street, south on NE 14th Street, and then east on Euclid Avenue to reach I-235. Motorists are advised by the Iowa DOT to drive cautiously, adhere to posted speed limits and signs in the work area, and be aware that fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones.

Drivers should remain alert, maintain ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts. Travelers can access up-to-date information through Iowa's 511 system.
