The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) is seeking public input on proposed improvements at the intersection of U.S. 30 and Durham Avenue/3rd Avenue SW in State Center, Marshall County. The planned changes involve constructing a reduced-conflict intersection (RCI) aimed at enhancing safety and minimizing accidents. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2026 and conclude by fall 2026. During this period, U.S. 30 will remain open, but Durham Avenue and 3rd Avenue SW will experience closures with detours.

An open house for community feedback is set for Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., with a formal presentation at 5:30 p.m., at the State Center Community Room located at 118 E. Main St., State Center, Iowa. Attendees can submit written questions upon registration.

For those unable to attend the open house, feedback can be submitted online until October 6. Interested individuals must provide their name and zip code before commenting on the project plans.

Questions regarding the project or requests for translation services can be directed to Shelby Ebel, District Transportation Planner at Iowa DOT District 1 Office in Ames, Iowa. Contact can be made via phone at 515-239-1996 or email Shelby.Ebel@iowadot.us.

The Iowa DOT assures nondiscrimination in all its programs and activities according to Title VI and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
