Wartburg Theological Seminary is delighted to announce that Rev. Helen Chukka has accepted our offer for a three-year term specific appointment as Assistant Professor of Hebrew Bible, beginning July 1, 2023. This is a temporary position during the years when our current Associate Professor of Hebrew Bible, Dr. Beth Elness-Hanson, will be on leave in Tanzania and Norway for her Marie Curie grant.
Rev. Chukka comes to us from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago, where she will be completing her Ph.D. and graduating in May. Her dissertation title is “Mixed Marriage Crisis in Ezra 9-10: An Anti-Caste Reading to Analyze the Returnee’s Construction of Rebuilding the Community.” She received her BD and MTh from Gurukul Lutheran Theological College in Chennai, India, and she is ordained in the Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church of India.
