Clinton Area Chamber Of Commerce issued the following announcement on May 27
Citizens First Bank management and directors are pleased to announce a $20,000 contribution to the United Way of Clinton County in honor of the bank’s 20 th anniversary.
Bank President Kathy Forrest shared, “We are proud to contribute locally, and it just made sense to make part of our 20 year celebration a commitment to help the community that has supported us over the last 20 years.
Since United Way specializes in helping organizations in our community it was a natural fit.” What started out as a year’s worth of plans to celebrate the milestone, quickly changed with the onset of COVID19. Like businesses across the globe, Citizens First Bank (CFB) had to pivot to Plan B to limit exposure for staff and customers. Banking is deemed an essential service, so CFB has remained open, utilizing digital banking and expanded drive thru services to meet customer needs, while keeping lobbies closed.
This spring, the Citizens First Bank lending team worked hand in hand with area businesses to process Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans for 183 businesses, totaling $14.9 million. It is apparent to bank leadership that the needs of our community have increased with many people out of work and facing a difficult time, so the donation seems the right way to mark the anniversary. Citizens First Bank is very proud to contribute locally and support our community’s growth with a $20,000 contribution to the United Way of Clinton County.
