Gov. Kim Reynolds has teamed up with the Iowa Department of Public Health with #StepUpMaskUpIA, urging residents to wear face masks while out and about, the department announced on its website.
“Whether it’s wearing a mask, social distancing, practicing good hygiene, or staying home when we’re sick, these simple steps continue to be the best defense against the virus. So, let’s step up Iowa,” Reynolds said in a video address to the public.
She also said that while several strides have been made from staying home to social distancing, the state has a long way to go before the COVID-19 crisis ends.
“I don’t want to go backward. I don’t want to reverse the progress we’ve made since the pandemic began,” she said in the video clip. “That’s why I’m asking for your help.”
She urged residents to wear masks and continue protecting themselves and others by taking steps like wearing a face mask.
