Gov. Kim Reynolds (R-Iowa) extended the public health emergency for another 30 days by signing a new proclamation Sept. 18.
As part of the proclamation, Johnson and Story counties must close its bars, taverns, wineries, breweries, distilleries and night clubs until Sunday, Sept. 27. Restaurants in these two counties are still permitted to remain open, but must stop selling and serving alcoholic beverages after 10 p.m.
They can sell alcoholic beverages for consumption off premises.
The proclamation also extends COVID-19 mitigation measures in place for businesses and other establishments until 11:59 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 18. This includes social distancing, hygiene and other measures.
The proclamation also provides relief to school districts and extends measures to respond to the pandemic.
"I continue to strongly encourage all vulnerable Iowans, including those with preexisting medical conditions and those older than 65, in all counties of the state to continue to limit their activities outside of their home, including their visits to businesses and other establishments and their participation in gatherings of any size and any purpose," Reynolds said in the proclamation.
