House Speaker Pat Grassley of New Hartford has announced the leadership appointments for House committees ahead of the Ninety First General Assembly. This move comes as part of the Republican agenda to address various issues including budgeting, workforce growth, tax reduction, and social matters.

Grassley emphasized the party's commitment to representing all counties in Iowa: "In response to our agenda to introduce sound budgeting principles, reduce burdensome red tape, innovate new ways to grow a strong workforce, cut taxes, and keep our common sense on social issues, Iowans have once again grown our majority," he stated. He added that with comprehensive representation across the state, they can better understand and address Iowan priorities. "This group of House Republicans is ready to get to work for the people of Iowa."

The announced committee leadership positions are as follows:

For Administrative Rules Review, Rep. Chad Ingels from Randalia will serve as Chair. The Agriculture Committee will be chaired by Rep. Mike Sexton from Rockwell City with Rep.-Elect Chad Behn from Boone as Vice Chair.

Rep. Gary Mohr from Bettendorf takes charge of Appropriations alongside Vice Chair Rep. Dan Gehlbach from Urbandale. Commerce will be led by Rep. Shannon Lundgren from Peosta and Vice Chair Rep.-Elect David Blom from Marshalltown.

Economic Growth and Technology sees Rep. Ray Sorensen from Greenfield as Chair with Rep. Devon Wood from New Market assisting as Vice Chair.

Education leadership goes to Rep. Skyler Wheeler from Hull with Rep.-Elect Samantha Fett from Carlisle serving as Vice Chair.

Environmental Protection is headed by Rep. Dean Fisher from Montour and Vice Chair Rep. Tom Gerhold from Atkins.

Rep. Bill Gustoff of Des Moines chairs Ethics while Government Oversight is led by Rep. Charley Thomson of Charles City and his deputy, Jeff Shipley of Birmingham.

Health and Human Services will be overseen by Carter Nordman (Panora) along with Brett Barker (Nevada). A new Higher Education committee is introduced under Taylor Collins (Mediapolis), supported by Jeff Shipley (Birmingham).

International Relations remains under Eddie Andrews (Johnston), while Judiciary falls under Steve Holt (Denison) with Judd Lawler (Oxford) stepping in as Vice Chair post-election.

Labor is chaired by Barb Kniff McCulla (Pella) with Josh Meggers (Grundy Center) seconding her efforts; Local Government has Megan Jones (Sioux Rapids) at its helm joined by Craig Williams (Manning).
