Iowa GOP chair and former lawmaker Jeff Kaufmann criticized the rumor that Iowa State Auditor Rob Sand may run for governor next year.
Kaufmann said, after Sand's recent actions, he doesn't think that it's something Sand's team is going to suggest.
"l think in his mind (Sand) thinks he's running for governor. After after this last couple of days I'm not sure that pollsters and political consultants are going to suggest that he run for governor," Kaufmann said through the Iowa GOP on Youtube.
Kaufman is described as a constituent advocate, defender of the Second Amendment and a fiscal conservative, in a post on the Iowa GOP website.
He served in the Iowa House for eight years, six of which were in party leadership roles, a post on the Iowa GOP website described.
Many critics, as described in an opinion article for The Gazette, said that Sand's "swing" at a governor's run was a flop this year.
"Obviously the shenanigans ... that he attempted to pull while abusing his office were all about trying to run for governor," Kaufmann said in the Youtube video through the Iowa GOP.
Sand has called out Iowa's Republican governor Kim Reynolds several times. His most recent attempt to discredit her through accusation of violating use of public funds restrictions fell flat when holes were pointed out in his accusation, as described in the opinion article in The Gazette.
