Iowa State basketball player Xavier Foster is no longer a member of the team while the police are investigating an alleged connection to a sexual assault claim.
"We hold our program to high standards and there are expectations that our student-athletes be accountable both on and off the court. After much consideration, I have decided that this is necessary as we continue to build our culture," Iowa State head coach T.J. Otzelberger said in a press release.
According to KCCI, Foster is being investigated in the alleged sexual assault of an 18-year-old woman in the fall of 2020. He has not been formally charged.
According to the Des Moines Register, a woman reported that she was assaulted at a party at an Ames apartment, triggering the investigation.
Foster played in 7 games in the 2020 season.
