Run for the Schools to impact area roads on Sunday, Oct. 24

City of Iowa City issued the following announcement on October 19.

Run for the Schools, a run benefiting students from the Iowa City Community School District and Regina Catholic Education Center, will take place Sunday, Oct. 24, 2021. 

Several roads will close for the half-mile, mile, 5K, 10K, and half-marathon races. Road closures will begin at 4 a.m. and all roads are anticipated to reopen by noon. No parking signs will be posted along the route and vehicles not moved before 3 a.m. will be towed.

The longer runs begins at 9 a.m., with the course beginning at the intersection of East Washington and Gilbert streets, near the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center, 220 S. Gilbert St. Shorter races begin at 8 a.m. "No Parking" signs will be enforced from Linn Street to Muscatine Avenue at the finish line.

Drivers are asked to avoid the area and seek another route during the run.
