Lessons I've Learned

Mount Mercy University's Business & Leadership programs invite you to our Barbara Knapp Endowed Business Lecture Series.

This year, the series is featuring John G. Rice, chairman of GE Gas Power, presenting "Lessons I've Learned..." 

Rice began his career at General Electric in 1978 and held several leadership positions in the United States, Canada, and Singapore. He led GE’s global operations in Hong Kong and served as vice chairman of GE, president and CEO of GE Technology Infrastructure, vice chairman of GE’s industrial and infrastructure businesses, president and CEO of GE Energy, and president and CEO of GE Transportation.

Rice earned his bachelor’s degree in economics from Hamilton College in Clinton, New York, and is a life trustee there. He was elected a trustee of Emory University and serves on several other boards, including Baker Hughes and the Foundation for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta. Rice is a President’s Council member of the Hazelton Betty Ford Foundation, a senior advisor for the G-100 companies, and a senior professor at Georgia Tech’s Sam Nunn School of International Affairs.

The Barbara Knapp Endowed Business Lecture Series

The Barbara Knapp Business Lecture Series is designed to provide speakers on business-oriented topics that will interest and benefit the community. 

Launched in 2004, the series has continued to bring timely, interesting topics to students and the broader community year after year. It is named for Barbara A. Knapp, a member of the Mount Mercy University Board of Trustees and retired chair and chief executive officer for SCI Financial Group.
