04062022

The Allocation Far Exceeds the $1.7 Million Given to Students in FY 2022

  • The DMACC Foundation Sets the New Allocation Record while Celebrating its 50th Anniversary.
  • The DMACC Foundation Board Consists of Volunteers Who Work to Ensure Funding is Available for DMACC Student Scholarships, Facility and Program Enhancements at the College.
  • “The $2 Million Scholarship Allocation is a Reflection of the Generosity of Numerous Donors Who Believe in Creating Access to DMACC’s High Quality Education and Training,” said DMACC Foundation Executive Director Tara Connolly.
The DMACC Foundation is allocating a record $2 million in scholarships to DMACC students for FY 2023. This amount far exceeds the previous dollar amount of $1.7 million awarded in the FY 2022. This allocation comes as the DMACC Foundation is celebrating its 50th anniversary.

The DMACC Foundation has served tens of thousands of students and delivered millions in scholarship support over the past 50 years.

“The $2 million scholarship allocation is a reflection of the generosity of numerous donors who believe in creating access to DMACC’s high quality education and training,” DMACC Foundation Executive Director Tara Connolly said. “It has been a privilege to serve in the capacity of the Executive Director of the DMACC Foundation for the last eleven years and witness the growth and impact of the DMACC Foundation Scholarship program.”

Connolly says the DMACC Foundation Board of Directors, which consists of 30 members, is looking forward to awarding the largest allocation of scholarships in celebration of the DMACC Foundation’s 50th Anniversary later this year.

She said the DMACC Foundation works cooperatively with individual donors, local businesses and support organizations to ensure funding is available for student scholarships, facility and program enhancements for DMACC.

“DMACC donors know how important their contributions are and that often a small amount of financial support will make the difference between successful completion and not completing their DMACC degree. This is a great benefit to our students and their families and communities,” said Rob Denson, DMACC President.

“Fifty years ago, the Des Moines Area Community College Foundation was created with a simple mission: to help students achieve their dreams. As we celebrate this milestone 50th anniversary year, I am extremely proud of and grateful for the dedication of our Foundation Board of Directors, comprised of community leaders who keep the dreams of students alive and at the center of this life-changing work,” said Rita Perea, Board President, DMACC Foundation Board of Directors.
