WASHINGTON – On JUNE 7, 2023, U.S. Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) called out the Biden administration and federal bureaucrats for out-of-control spending without proper oversight and transparency. Ernst recently uncovered that at least 1.3 billion taxpayer dollars were sent to China and Russia for pointless pet projects, including over $2 million for risky research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology and over $770 thousand for experiments on cats on treadmills in Russia.

Background:

Ernst is the Senate’s biggest foe of reckless spending. Last week, she announced her TRACKS Act which brings badly needed transparency to how federal dollars are spent, holds the government accountable, and helps prevent taxpayers from supporting our adversaries.
