WASHINGTON – Two Iowans will testify before the Senate Budget Committee tomorrow, at the invitation of Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), the committee’s ranking member.

Brent Johnson, from Calhoun County, is president of the Iowa Farm Bureau and Bryan Sievers, from Scott County, is chief operating officer of Sievers Family Farms and director of government relations at Roeslein Alternative Energy. The hearing, titled “Cultivating Stewardship: Examining the Changing Agricultural Landscape,” will highlight how the private sector has increased food production while reducing emissions and improving soil health and water quality

“Mr. Johnson and Mr. Sievers have deep knowledge of farm practices and policies that support conservation and stewardship of the land, as well as the benefits of biofuels development. I appreciate their willingness to share their insights on agricultural innovation and environmental stewardship with the committee, and am confident they’ll represent Iowa well,” Grassley said.
