Men outnumbered women in Iowa in 2021

Of the 3,179,090 people living in Iowa in 2021, 50% (1,589,089) were women and 50% (1,590,001) were men, according to U.S. Census Bureau data obtained by Hawkeye Reporter.

Data showed the average age for men in Iowa in 2021 was 37 years, lower than the national average of 38 for men. Meanwhile, Iowa's female population stands at an average age of 39 years, placing them lower than the US average of 40.

According to census data, men aged 18 and over outnumbered women in the same age group by 33,599, totaling 964,986 individuals. Meanwhile, in the 65 and over group, there were 245,458 men and 295,084 women.
