Speaker of the Iowa House, Pat Grassley, addressed attendees at the Republican Party of Iowa's Election Night event in Des Moines. Grassley expressed optimism about the election results and emphasized the party's achievements.
"We have some good news to report," Grassley stated. He highlighted the success in increasing seats for Republicans since he and Majority Leader took office. "We may have to add onto the Capitol so there's a room big enough to hold all the Iowa House Republicans that we're going to have this upcoming session."
Grassley spoke on protecting incumbents during what he described as a challenging election season. "A message that I think we have loud and clear is that the woke mind virus comes to Iowa and it dies," he remarked.
He mentioned an increase in Republican representation, saying, "How does the number 67 House Republicans sound to everybody? I'll tell you that's a pretty high number." He noted that House Republicans continue to represent every county within Iowa.
Addressing campaign issues, Grassley said, "One clear message from this election - and we heard this all across the state - why in the world is a party running on one issue - and that one issue is killing babies up until the day of birth? And I think Iowans rejected that wholeheartedly tonight."
Grassley thanked supporters for their efforts throughout the campaign. "Thank you to everyone who knocked doors for our candidates all over the state," he said. Looking forward, he expressed excitement about continuing legislative goals such as tax cuts and balanced budgets.
"Let's continue to celebrate because Iowa is the Freedom Capitol of the Midwest," Grassley concluded his remarks.
