House Speaker Pat Grassley has announced the committee assignments for the upcoming 91st General Assembly. The announcement was made today in Des Moines, as preparations continue for the legislative session beginning on January 13, 2025.

Grassley expressed optimism about the new session: "Iowa House Republicans will continue to deliver on the promises we make to Iowans," he said. "Our caucus represents part or all of Iowa's 99 counties, putting us in the best possible position to listen to Iowans and be their voice in the Statehouse. We're excited to get back to work in January."

The standing committees and their leadership were outlined, including key roles such as Rep. Chad Ingels chairing the Administrative Rules Review Committee and Rep. Mike Sexton leading Agriculture. Other notable appointments include Rep. Gary Mohr as Chair of Appropriations and Rep. Shannon Lundgren heading Commerce.

Rep. Bubba Sorensen will lead Economic Growth and Technology, while Education is chaired by Rep. Skyler Wheeler with Vice Chair Rep.-Elect Samantha Fett.

Several representatives-elect have been appointed to vice-chair positions across various committees, indicating a blend of experienced legislators with newcomers.

Additionally, appropriations subcommittees were assigned with specific chairs such as Rep. Michael Bergan for Administration and Regulation Appropriations and Rep. Norlin Mommsen for Agriculture and Natural Resources Appropriations.

These assignments set the stage for a legislative agenda that aims to address key issues across Iowa’s diverse regions.
