Jeff Brabant, Vice President of Federal Government Relations for the National Federation of Independent Business (NFIB), recently appeared on 600 WMT Radio in Cedar Rapids. During his appearance, Brabant discussed the importance of making the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent to prevent a significant tax increase on small businesses in Iowa.

The deduction was established as part of the 2017 tax law with the aim of creating a more level playing field between small businesses and larger corporations. It has been instrumental in helping small business owners navigate economic challenges over recent years. However, this deduction is set to expire at the end of 2025.

Brabant emphasized that "Congress should make the 20% Small Business Deduction permanent and stop the upcoming massive tax hike on Iowa small businesses." He highlighted that the Main Street Tax Certainty Act would ensure this deduction remains in place, thereby avoiding substantial tax increases for many small businesses across America.
