The Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa DOT) is inviting public feedback on a proposed U.S. 20 westbound bridge replacement over Middle Fork Catfish Creek and the Railroad in Dubuque County. The project, located 0.6 miles east of the NW Arterial, aims to improve traffic flow and safety in the area.
Planned Upgrades:
The proposed improvements include:
- Construction of a 471-foot-long, 40-foot-wide bridge
- Installation of a new guardrail
- Construction of new bridge approaches with wider paved shoulders
During construction, which is expected to begin in spring 2026 and conclude in late fall 2026, westbound traffic will be reduced to one lane, while eastbound traffic will remain at two lanes. Access to businesses and homes will be maintained through temporary traffic management measures at local entrances and roads.
