A Honduran man has been sentenced to 102 days in prison for the unlawful use of fraudulent identification documents. Ramon Calderon-Rivera, 37, pleaded guilty on April 24, 2025, to charges related to the misuse of these documents.
Calderon-Rivera admitted during his plea that he used a fake Social Security card and a California driver's license as proof of his authorization to work in the United States. These documents were presented when he completed employment and tax forms at an Iowa business in November 2023. The Social Security number was found to be assigned to another individual. Such documents are legally required for entry or as evidence of authorized stay or employment in the U.S.
The sentencing took place in Cedar Rapids, where United States District Court Chief Judge C.J. Williams presided over the case. In addition to his prison sentence, Calderon-Rivera will serve a three-year term of supervised release following his imprisonment. It is noted that there is no parole available within the federal system.
