A Colorado woman has been sentenced to federal prison for her role in a drug distribution conspiracy. Danielle Morris, 49, originally from Denver and residing in Odebolt, Iowa, received a 76-month sentence on July 8, 2025, at the federal court in Sioux City.

Morris pleaded guilty on February 12, 2025, to conspiring to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl. Evidence presented during the plea and sentencing hearings indicated that between January and April 27, 2024, Morris and others conspired to distribute approximately one pound of methamphetamine and over 1,700 fentanyl pills. On April 21, 2024, Morris and two others were intercepted by law enforcement while traveling to Colorado for more methamphetamine and selling fentanyl pills. The group attempted to evade police by throwing the fentanyl from their vehicle and driving recklessly at high speeds. Morris also made a false emergency call to distract officers.

Later that day, authorities executed a search warrant at Morris's residence shared with her co-conspirator. They seized small quantities of methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and a loaded .22 caliber Beretta handgun.

The sentencing was conducted by United States District Court Judge Leonard T. Strand. Alongside her imprisonment term of over six years, Morris will serve four years of supervised release after completing her sentence. There is no option for parole in the federal system. Until she is transported to a federal prison facility, Morris remains under the custody of the United States Marshal.
